Frequently Asked Questions
Where should I fly?
Most participants will fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, Costa Rica. You may also choose to fly into Quepos La Managua Airport, which is closer to Uvita but usually requires a connecting domestic flight from San José.
How will I get from the airport to Contatto Wellness?
Private and shared shuttle services are available from both San José and Quepos and can bring you directly to the Contatto Wellness property in Uvita.
Depending on participant arrival and departure schedules, we may organize a group shuttle. Group transportation is not guaranteed until we have reviewed everyone’s travel plans.
Is airport transportation included in the registration price?
Airport transportation is not included unless it is specifically listed in your registration package. We will provide recommended shuttle options and help coordinate group transportation when schedules allow.
Participants are responsible for booking and paying for transportation that is not included in an organized group shuttle.
When should I arrive?
Plan to arrive at Contatto Wellness on February 7, 2027. We recommend choosing a flight that gives you enough time to clear immigration, collect your luggage and travel to Uvita before evening.
Because travel from San José to Uvita can take several hours, an early arrival in Costa Rica is usually the easiest option. Participants arriving late in the day may prefer to stay near the airport overnight and travel to Uvita the following morning.
When should I schedule my return flight?
Plan your departure based on the course schedule and checkout time on February 14, 2027. Avoid booking an early morning international flight from San José on the same day you leave Uvita.
Depending on your flight time, you may need to travel to San José the day before your international departure.
Will you help me arrange transportation?
Yes. After registration, we will collect each participant’s arrival and departure information. We will then share recommended transportation options and determine whether group shuttles can be coordinated.
You will receive final transportation instructions before the program begins.
Do I need previous Ashiatsu experience?
No previous Ashiatsu experience is required for Ashi Basic.
Students registering for Ashi-Thai must meet any prerequisite requirements established by DeepFeet. Contact us before registering when you are unsure which course is appropriate for your training background.
Do I need to be a licensed massage therapist?

Ashiatsu involves deep, compressive pressure and active physical participation. Pregnancy, recent surgery, acute injury, uncontrolled hypertension, contagious skin conditions and certain other medical conditions may affect whether it is appropriate to give or receive the work.
Contact us privately before registering when you have concerns about safe participation. We do not need a detailed medical history through the public registration form.
Is travel insurance required?
Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Your policy should ideally include:
Trip cancellation
